GENERON Nitrogen Generator Deployed to Alaska’s Willow Project
January 17, 2024
In March of 2023, the current Administration approved the Willow project allowing oil drilling to occur on the North Slope in Alaska, producing 180,000 barrels of oil per day.
GENERON has built the first nitrogen skid package using its patented, and renown membrane technology. The skid is constructed with redundant systems featuring two Triton Nitrogen Generator 6150 Membrane Cabinets, as well as two compressors and two dryers. The membrane system is engineered for industrial applications. It has a lighter design, simpler integration, and offers higher efficiency at a lower cost. The 6158 model can generate nitrogen purities ranging from 95 to 99.5 percent. Along with a flow rate between 21,760 SCFH to 3,416 SCFH, at a pressure range of 100 to 175 PSIG.
The skid has since traveled to another Texas location to be prepared in a climate-controlled building. Then will be shipped to Alaska by barge, and hauled by truck on Alaska’s ice roads to the drill site. The nitrogen package will begin operating in late 2024 or 2025.
