Membrane Nitrogen Generator Used in Battery Shredding and Recycling System

GENERON® has manufactured and supplied two NPU6150 nitrogen generator systems designed for integration into our customer’s advanced battery shredding and recycling system. Utilizing Generon’s renowned membrane technology, the 2 NPU 6150 systems will deliver nitrogen at rates of 100 SCFM and 216 SCFM, achieving a purity of 99%.

The nitrogen generators produce an inert atmosphere within the shredding chambers, creating a secure and controlled environment for battery shredding. This method not only minimizes hazardous incidents but also preserves the integrity of the process. The inert atmosphere is crucial for the safe handling and disassembly of batteries, effectively preventing thermal runaway and accidental combustion. Especially in lithium-ion batteries, which are widely used and can pose significant safety challenges during processing.
