GENERON Discusses CO₂ and H₂ Separation Technology at Carbon Capture Technology Expo

GENERON had a great show at the Hydrogen and Carbon Capture Technology Expo held at NRG Center in Houston June 26th & 27th. The event attracted a global audience looking for solutions, including how to make the most of hydrogen technology, and how to reduce CO₂ emissions using a sustainable business strategy. We had many informative conversations, learning more about the different technologies used in these efforts, and understanding better how GENERON’s membrane technology and PSA technology could aid in providing solutions.

GENERON’s current and emerging technologies are pivotal in gas separation processes, including applications such as H₂ removal from N₂, CO₂ removal from flue and syngas, CO₂ removal from CH₄, as well as conventional applications such as air separation through our proprietary membrane and adsorption systems. GENERON’s products are designed to help our customers achieve their objectives for decarbonization, hydrogen production, air purity and other gas separation needs.

At the Carbon Capture Technology Expo, GENERON showcased one of our patented CO₂ membrane modules, garnering significant interest from attendees. GENERON’s membrane technology provides a range of tailored formulations designed for specific applications.

Our membrane modules consist of millions of GENERON polymeric hollow fibers. Compressed gas flows down the bore side of the polymer fibers, facilitating the rapid passage of fast gasses that flow out the permeate gas port, while restricting the passage of slower gasses that flow out of the product gas port. A pressure gradient is applied across the membrane during this procedure, in the process known as selective permeation.

This diagram illustrates the varying permeation rates of common gases. Gases like H₂O, CO₂, He, and O₂ exhibit selective permeation, whereas gases such as CH₄ and N₂ migrate towards the product gas port end of the module.
